Before the second world war, only a handful of Italians came and worked in Jersey. It was in the fifties and early sixties that a great wave of Italians came to work in the catering industry. From some three thousand in the sixties to the few hundred of today, we have always worked hard and integrated with the community, while never forgetting our Mother country and our language.
With the passing of time, our families have grown and now they are made up of three, even four generations. We hope that with the launch of this modern mean of communication, we can enable each generation to remain in close touch with the others.
We would urge everyone to contribute material and photographs so that we can all share in treasured memories and build a useful record for generations to come.
